Our story

“Design as diverse as our world” is our north star. We established Black Friday Collective with a clear purpose: to cultivate a team that reflects the rich diversity of our communities. We strongly believe that diversity in thought, life-experience, race, disability, language, and gender fosters the most impactful artistry. Pursuing this mission allows us to meet our clients’ unique needs and be exceptional stewards of their brands.

“Design with purpose” is our compass. This commitment applies to both how we run our business and how we approach our design. For our clients, we take care in understanding their needs and co-create to ensure their vision comes to life in the way they intend. For our collective, we are dedicated to creating a workplace that prioritizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. And for our communities, we strive to reach beyond our bottom line, giving back and leaving a net positive impact.

What’s in a name?

Black Friday Collective was born from an informal employee resource group of Black employees that convened on Fridays. What began as a casual exchange in a group chat soon blossomed into regular meetings we fondly dubbed 'Black Fridays'. These sessions became a cornerstone of our work, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.

When the idea to establish our agency took shape, it was clear that the spirit of our collective was at the heart of it all. While we welcome anyone of any racial background, our name reminds us of our beginnings. Black Friday Collective is more than a name - it's our story.

Hey, I’m Teysia (it sounds like T+Asia)! My journey into the field of design started in college when I made the unexpected switch from a double major in computer science and math to graphic design. A friend saw my sketchbook and urged me to make the switch – a little peer pressure goes a long way. It was some of the best advice I’ve received, and it brought me to where I am today.

Over the past decade, I’ve specialized in designing brand campaigns, web and mobile UIs, social media content, and more. I’ve worked across industries like education, tech, hospitality, and food and beverage. My experience spans across agencies, studios, and freelance roles. I’ve had the pleasure of working with big names like Microsoft, Deloitte, SVEDKA Vodka, and InterContinental Hotels Group. I’ve also been fortunate to collaborate with school districts, community organizations, and small businesses, helping to amplify the voices of BIPOC students, families, and communities through impactful design. Each of these experiences has filled my toolkit with knowledge and skills that I’m excited to pour back into BFC and the communities we serve.

Outside of design, I’m a foodie, a travel bug, and an athlete. If I’m not behind my computer, you’ll find me at the gym, exploring new restaurants, or boarding a plane to a new country.

Hi, I'm History, the strategic mastermind behind Black Friday Collective! I’m a coffee-lovin’ dog mom and a wannabe yogi.

In my past lives, I've worn many hats—nonprofit executive, ASL interpreter, consultant, and global program manager. I've built a solid track record in strategic development, global program management, and optimizing business operations. I absolutely LOVE strategic planning and problem-solving, especially when it comes to improving inefficient processes. But what really gets me excited is fostering people-centric cultures within organizations.

At BFC, I'm a driving force behind our values, steering the company toward a future where success is measured by the well-being of our people. Plus, we're all about building a diverse team that reflects the vibrant communities we serve.

When I'm not strategizing for the business or standing on my soapbox about the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion, you can find me snuggled up with my pup, learning a new language (currently Hebrew - Shalom!), globetrotting, or enjoying nature.
